Why?

  • — Well, first of all, it's beautiful...
  • — Second, everything starts with a blank page;
  • — You can visit it to save electricity[1];
  • — That's a whole 1,000,000 perfectly white pixels and only 800 gray ones[2].
  • — (!) Since June 9, 2022 the site supports dark mode automatically. How do you get across the idea of the lightest homepage without blinding a dark-mode user? A flashlight!

Seriously, though:

  • — The truth is, I'm just a bad designer;
  • — It was high time I finally made myself a website;
  • — But for all its simplicity, it's a very useful page, because:
    • — It used to be an OpenID provider*;
    • — It carries my basic personal information in the hCard microformat and the newer h-card (validate it with the occasionally glitchy hCard validator or the h-card one, or parse it with the Google Structured Data Testing Tool), as well as in JSON-LD;
    • — Following the Pavatar spec, it hosts my photo (validate);
    • — It links to a FOAF file that will aggregate social connections from facebook.com, twitter.com, mirtesen.ru, moikrug.ru, livejournal.com, etc. (validate);
    • — It scores 100% in the Google Chrome Lighthouse audit for Performance, SEO and Best Practices[3].
    • — The gray pixels aren't gray by accident: since May 2022 they have exactly enough contrast to meet WCAG 2.1
    And coming soon[4]: xfn, microid, xrds, doac, ...

What's next?

  • — More to come;
  • — The whole layout will be redone, scripts and CSS minified, content gzipped, images optimized;
  • — Then a “Résumé” section will appear, synced automatically with MoiKrug.ru, Hh.ru and LinkedIn.com;
  • — I'll add a section of articles that go over every pixel and byte of this site in detail;
  • — Plenty of ideas; I'll make them happen.
